Do I need a Consultation?

Our Women’s Health Team answers questions regarding the treatment of many conditions using both traditional and natural remedies. If you simply need help finding an over-the-counter remedy for sleep or hot flashes our staff will be happy to point you in the right direction. If you have a multitude of symptoms and are interested in learning more about hormones, or need to fine tune your entire vitamin, herbal and prescription regimen, this will require a private appointment.

Do I need a referral?

Yes and no. Booking an appointment does not require a referral from your doctor; however, patients must obtain a requisition for bloodwork from their doctor. Furthermore, we suggest women inform their doctor that they are making an appointment as a courtesy and because a follow-up letter of suggestion may be faxed to their office after the visit.

What do I need to bring to the appointment?

Please refer to the “Women’s Health Consultation Checklist” for a list of items to prepare and bring to the consultation. Please read all the information in the Women’s Health Program section to better understand what is required.

How much time should I allow?

A typical appointment lasts one hour, however we suggest allowing yourself an additional 30 minutes beyond this time. This time is needed to register at the pharmacy and may be needed to consider any supplements that may have been suggested during your appointment.

Is the consultation covered by private insurance plans?

If you have a health spending account as part of your insurance plan it may be a benefit under “pharmacist consultation”. Indicating to your plan that our team also suggests natural options (including vitamins, herbal remedies and homeopathic products) may help with coverage from some plans.
